What started off as a joke over how the music video for Tyla’s “Water” should’ve been more like the 2005 video for Namie Amuro’s “Want Me, Want Me” wound up with me mashing the two songs together. And now I can’t hear “Water” without hearing “Want Me, Want Me”. And then I threw a cupcakKe verse in the mix. Because why not.

Every now and then I think about Namie Amuro’s “Want Me, Want Me” and laugh to myself that she said yes to recording this song. And I wonder if enough of the general public knew what the song was actually about. It’s like the whole mess of Perfume’s dancing to Lil’ Kim’s “How Many Licks” as kids. Lots of people just having absolutely no clue.
