Jennie was the third member of Blackpink on the cusp of releasing an album and I didn’t care a great deal about it. I’m not a huge fan of Blackpink. And a lot of the solo material that the members had released had been underwhelming to me. But then “Like Jennie” dropped and I sat up. The song is fire. And I am so annoyed at how much I like the song, because Diplo is one of the producers of it and there is just something about that man I do not like. I really started looking at him sideways after that mess came to light that he had some young girl staying with him and I had long had mixed feelings on his whole Major Lazer thing, but that’s a whole other post.
“Like Jennie” was fire. But as is far too common these days, the song was way too short, clocking in at just 2 minutes. So I made it longer and stretched it to 4.
One of my first thoughts upon hearing the song was ‘Oooo, the vogue fem girls could get down to this’. So I threw in a little suttin’ suttin’ to draw that out further.
