🎛️ Hikaru Utada - The Sanctuary of Passion (Random J Mix-Mash)

The Winamp classic player with a pink colour scheme. Currently playing the Random J mix-mash of Hikaru Utada’s “Passion” and “Sanctuary” — the cover art of which is displayed on the right-hand side.

I remember being a bit disappointed when I heard Hikaru Utada’s “Sanctuary”, because it felt like a lesser version of “Passion”. Hikaru’s voice didn’t sound as good. The vocals weren’t as well produced. The mixing of the vocals wasn’t as good. The third verse / bridge section was removed. I just didn’t like it. But despite not liking it, I still decided to mix together a version which fuses “Passion” and “Sanctuary”.

Hikaru Utada had actually performed a fusion of “Passion” and “Sanctuary” on their In the Flesh tour. I honestly can’t remember whether I made this mix before realising Hikaru Utada had performed a version of it or if I realised Hikaru Utada had performed a version of it after I made the mix. [Shrugs] Not that it matters.

The In the Flesh tour is a tour I am still bitter about to this day, because Ticketmaster oversold tickets and I wound up being one of the unfortunate individuals who was oversold to. So I didn’t get to go. I was distraught. Ever since this happened to me, I had refused to use Ticketmaster. For 10 years Ticketmaster was dead to me. I missed out on gigs all because I refused to buy tickets from Ticketmaster. Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour is what made me break my soul.
