🎛️ Perfume x Destiny’s Child - Chocolate Disco (Random J Mashup)

The Winamp classic player with a pink colour scheme. Currently playing the Random J Mashup of Perfume’s classic “Chocolate Disco” and Destiny’s Child’s 2005 single “Cater 2 U” — the cover art of which is displayed on the right-hand side.

When I saw that Team Perfume were pushing “Chocolate Disco” for Valentine’s Day, I said to myself ‘It’s a shame they didn’t release a slow and sexy version of the song’. And then I had this ridiculous idea.

When I started making this, I was fully aware of how ridiculous this mashup was. But the more I worked on it, the more I thought ‘Wait…I actually like this?!’.

One of the cool things about making mashups is hearing artists on styles of music that they would never normally do. My Perfume mashups have always been with songs which aren’t completely removed from something they would normally do sonically. But this is so far out from something Perfume would do. Sure, Perfume have done a couple of R&B-ish adjacent songs before, but never something like this. And they never would. And d’ya know what…Perfume don’t sound as crazy on an R&B slow jam as I thought they would.
